Jonathan’s family built their first house in Maine in the late 1800s, and his wife Fay’s family has been in Maine for seven generations. Maine has shaped Jonathan – from the legendary Maine work ethic to our nowhere-else-on-earth community-based culture. Maine has imbued in him a sense of deep appreciation for our state and a relentless dedication to protecting it – and making its future as bright as it should be.

Jonathan started athenahealth in his basement, and grew it to a 17 billion dollar enterprise that now provide the technology for 1 in 5 of every doctor visits in America. He brought 1,000 jobs to Belfast, Maine in 2008, and forever changed the landscape of Midcoast Maine for the better. Waldo County’s economy has grown at five times the rate of the rest of the state since athenahealth opened, and the futures of countless families and businesses have been brighter as a result.

He’s the father of seven amazing children, ranging in ages from 4 to 29, and his fight to restore the promise of the American Dream in Maine is personal. Maine’s young people shouldn’t have to leave the state to prosper, and Jonathan’s campaign is centered on making sure they don’t.
